Here's a quick video tutorial showing how to create a paper tear effect in Photoshop. It only takes a few minutes to do and as you can see, the effect is super cool. You could also use the same technique to simulate a deckled edge, as you would find on watercolor paper. Check out the video after the jump...

One year ago the three of us started something pretty amazing. After having such a  great time on Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photo Walk we decided we needed to do something like that on a regular basis. Getting out and walking around just shooting for fun is essential to break us out of our ruts. We realized we spend way too much time in front of the computer and not enough time behind our cameras. We wanted an outlet, not only for us, but anyone else who wanted to join in. Within days, Faded & Blurred was born...

Self-portraits... who among us hasn't done one? We use self-timers, remotes, mirrors, water and window reflections. Maybe we are trying to be creative. Maybe we are lacking in available models. Maybe we want an identity, to prove somehow, to ourselves or others, that we are the ones behind the camera. Whatever the reason, we all put ourselves in front of our own cameras eventually.
